The first batch of senior students and alumni of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) here on Tuesday recalled their memories while visiting the campus on the invitation of varsity management.

The first batch was passed out in 1971 and during the campus’s visit after 51 years, emotional scenes witnessed when the group of around 80 senior students and alumni went round different parts of the campus specially the hostel rooms.

The Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili while welcoming the visiting senior students and alumni said that after passage of 51 years then engineering college turned into one of the besthigher learning institutions of the country and imparting quality education to the students.

The passed out graduates are not only playing pivotal role for the country’s development, but they also earned good name of the motherland with their outstanding professional skills abroad, he said.Despite hurdles, the university management continuously striving for bringing more improvement in the campus, he added.

While briefing the development plans of the campus, the Vice Chancellor informed that the university management had received a plot of land in Karachi and after establishing Jacobabad Campus of the university, the construction for setting up another campus in Karachi would be kicked off.

The graduate engineer of 1971 batch, Iqbal Tareen underlined the need of learning lessons from the past with formation of new strategy in the field of education. The students must realise their responsibility and adopt new technologies with setting up their future in private sector except to make their future in dark while wasting time for getting government jobs, he advised.

Among others, senior students including Ghulam Nabi Morai and Iqbal Memon also shared their memories and called upon the students to concentrate on their education so that they could play their due role for the country’s progress and prosperity.
