President Dr. Arif Alvi conferred Pakistan’s civil awards on 135 citizens as well as foreign nationals on Pakistan Day i.e. March 23, in recognition of excellence and gallantry in their respective fields. Among the civil awards, many renowned personalities were awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz which is the country’s third-highest civilian honor.

One of the recipients of this prestigious award was Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry, an alumnus of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) in Jamshoro, Pakistan. Prof. Dr. BS Chowdhry was recognized for his exceptional contributions to the fields of Science, Engineering, and Education. He is an HEC Distinguished National Professor, Professor Emeritus, and the former Dean Faculty of Electrical Electronics and Computer Engineering at MUET.

Prof. Dr. BS Chowdhry has a wealth of experience in teaching, research, and administration, spanning more than 36 years. He has authored numerous research papers and has edited several books on topics such as Wireless Networks, Information Processing and Systems, Emerging Trends and Applications in Information Communication Technologies, and Wireless Sensor Networks for Developing Countries.

He has supervised more than 50 MPhil/Masters Thesis and produced more than 13 PhDs in the area of ICT. Dr. Chowdhry has chaired technical sessions in several countries including the USA, UK, China, UAE, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Pakistan, Denmark, Spain, and Belgium. He is a member of various professional bodies including the IEEE Karachi Section, Region10 Asia/Pacific, Fellow IEP, Fellow IEEEP, Senior Member, IEEE Inc. (USA), and SM ACM Inc. (USA).

Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, congratulates Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry on being conferred with the prestigious Sitara-e-Imtiaz award. Dr. Chowdhry is an accomplished scholar and academician who has made immense contributions to the fields of Science, Engineering, and Education.
