To shed light on academic opportunities for Pakistani students in the United States, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) recently hosted the “Awareness Seminar on U.S. Exchange Opportunities.” The event, held on Thursday, September 7th, 2023, at the US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water auditorium, was a collaborative endeavor involving MUET’s Alumni Development Cell, the Office of the Advisor Student Affairs, and the Pak-US Alumni Network Jamshoro Chapter.
The seminar’s emcee, Engr. Salman ul Mouzam Abbasi, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, setting the tone for a day of learning and insight. Dr. Shumail Memon, Director of the Center of English Language and Linguistics at MUET, delivered an inaugural address underscoring the seminar’s significance and the opportunities it aimed to unveil.
One of the seminar’s highlights was the presentation by Engr. Madiha Fatima, an exchange ambassador and project lead for the Pak-US Alumni Network Jamshoro Chapter. Her comprehensive exploration of study opportunities in the United States provided valuable insights. It guided the crafting of a compelling Statement of Purpose (SoP), an essential component of successful applications.
The seminar continued with an engaging panel discussion featuring accomplished individuals like Engr. Neha, Engr. Sana Jamali, Mr. Sadaqat, and Mr. Muhammad Ali shared their real-life experiences as past exchange students in the United States.
Dr. Muhammad Shuaib Shaikh, Deputy Advisor of Student Affairs and a faculty member in the Department of Chemical Engineering at MUET, concluded the seminar with his remarks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to all participants. The event culminated with the presentation of certificates and mementos to honor the dedication of volunteers and collaborators whose indispensable contributions ensured the seminar’s resounding success.
