Mehran University of Engineering and Technology is proud to announce that Dr. Kapal Dev, a graduate of the 08 Btahc of the Department of Electronic Engineering and a lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at Munster Technological University, has been recognized as one of the top young researchers in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region. Dr. Dev was awarded Runner-up in the IEEE ComSoc Outstanding Young Researcher category for his promising research activities for the benefit of society.
The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is an international organization, based in the USA, with a mission of advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. Annually, three outstanding young researchers in the EMEA region are recognized for their significant contributions to the development of the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), through ComSoc publication and conference activities over the last three years.
This prestigious award recognizes the excellence of Dr. Dev’s research work which focuses on wireless networks, blockchain, and artificial intelligence targeting industry 4.0/5.0. In practical terms, Dr. Dev’s research is centered around improving communication networks and associated services that are the core elements of today’s digital technology.
Dr. Dev has authored over 65 research papers, primarily in top IEEE transactions, magazines, and conferences, and leads several successful EU-funded research projects as Principal Investigator, winning over 1.2 million euros in funding to date. Dr. Dev serves as a Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Funded Investigator at one of Europe’s top research centers, CONNECT, Trinity College Dublin (TCD). He is also an Associate Editor for a number of prestigious international journals and a valued member of several international committees and working groups.
